Walter Sharkey Moore
Walter Sharkey Moore is a Greenville native who will graduate this spring from Greenville Senior High School with a Law Magnet program distinction. There he’s a member of the Academic and Speech and Debate teams. As a Congressional debater, Walter consistently places in regional tournaments. Last fall he participated in the YMCA’s S.C. Youth in Government program as the Chief of Staff to the Youth Governor. This summer Walter will be a wilderness counselor at Camp Chosatonga in Brevard, N.C., a summer camp he’s attended since age eight. In this position, Walter will use the knowledge he acquired at Colorado Outward Bound School in Leadville where he soloed Mt. Elbert, the highest summit of the Rocky Mountains and the second-highest summit in the contiguous United States. On the weekends, Walter works part-time as a busboy at Stella’s Southern Brasserie. This fall, he will matriculate to Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, where he plans to study political science and English. Walter hopes to someday become an FSO based in Nepal.
